Countries with bans on single use plastics (SUP)

There are several countries that have implemented bans on single-use plastics, including:

  1. Canada: Canada implemented a ban on certain types of single-use plastics in January 2021, including straws, stir sticks, six types of cutlery, six types of plates, six types of take-out containers, and six types of single-use bags.

  2. Australia: Australia implemented a ban on certain types of single-use plastics in July 2020, including straws, stirrers, and cutlery.

  3. Europe: The European Union implemented a ban on certain types of single-use plastics in 2021, including straws, cutlery, and plates. Several individual countries within the EU have also implemented their own bans on single-use plastics, including France and Italy.

  4. Kenya: Kenya implemented a ban on the manufacture, import, and use of single-use plastic bags in 2017, with severe penalties for those who violate the ban.

  5. India: India implemented a ban on single-use plastics, including straws, cutlery, and bags, in 2019.

  6. Taiwan: Taiwan implemented a ban on single-use plastics, including straws and cutlery, in 2020.

There are also several other countries that have implemented partial bans or restrictions on single-use plastics, including the United States, China, and South Africa.
